Recently, I've created a brand-new Avatar for a project that's currently in the planning stage. I've also invited some friends to join in the preliminary preparations for this upcoming venture. I'm very excited about this initiative, and I'll be setting up a special section soon to delve deeper into what I'm planning to do.
In terms of online stores, my experiences with Booth and Gumroad have been starkly different. I've tried publishing my work on Gumroad, but the results weren't as good as with Booth. Specifically, Booth made promoting my work much easier, while Gumroad seemed to require a more proactive approach to advertising and operations, making it feel more like a private small store.
Considering the time-consuming process of modeling, writing descriptions, and listing the product, adding substantial promotional efforts for Gumroad would undoubtedly increase my workload. Given the high overlap of customer demographics on both platforms, I'm considering shifting my focus entirely to Booth and offering a special Vrchat version for its users. The Game Ready versions currently on Gumroad will be ported to the CGTrader platform.
I've also considered showcasing my work on Artstation. However, I feel my current pieces haven't yet reached the level of perfection I aspire to, so I've held off on that for now.
Moreover, while using Vrchat, I've noticed an issue: differences in scene lighting rendering cause items based on the Unity default Shader to display inconsistently. To tackle this problem, I've decided to delve into the liltoon Shader. I'm reluctant to make significant modifications to it as it could complicate future updates. Presently, the liltoon Shader is being actively updated and, although it's not as optimized as the Poyomi Shader, its trending application on Booth is evident.
In the future, I aim to incorporate more of a 2D rendering style into my works, marking a new learning journey for me.
(As I brew a cup of coffee and play some light music, I immerse myself once again in the world of creation.)
Lately, while exploring video content, I was astonished by the new voice version of ChatGPT. After giving it a try, I was genuinely impressed by its voice capabilities. It has optimized and analyzed many aspects for me, greatly enhancing my efficiency. This experience prompted me to delve deeper into the Stable Diffusion technology, hoping it might inspire new creative ideas in my future designs. Currently, I often hit design plateaus. Although I've studied various styles and even created multiple conceptual sketches for new projects, I still struggle to find design elements that truly resonate with me. While I'm open to AI and believe in its potential, I recognize that over-reliance could hinder personal skill development.
After exploring Stable Diffusion, I realized mastering it isn't easy. It feels like entering a new tech realm, from understanding basic operations, interface functions, and Tags, to generating images and grasping what training models are. Although I've tried emulating some pro-level image generations, they often fall short. Many tutorials are inconsistent due to version variations. Transitioning from a novice to a proficient user seems to be a lengthy process, but given it's just the usual learning curve for a new tool, the potential returns seem worth the investment.
I'm diving into a fresh skill area - 2D-styled 3D model texturing. As mentioned, I aim to achieve an authentic 2D rendering style in Vrchat. Unfortunately, my expertise mainly lies in subsurface modeling, which doesn't lend itself well to 2D styles. Even when employing specific shaders to bridge the gap, I can't quite nail that unique 2D rendering feel, undoubtedly challenging my skillset.
In trying to adapt to this new approach, I encountered a clear problem: my current digital drawing tablet is too small, making detail work difficult. I've decided to upgrade, but I'm torn - the new, much larger tablet is the same price as my old one, leading me to regret my previous choice.
On this journey of exploration, I've come to understand that sometimes the freshest and most challenging techniques can truly open new doors for us. As I delve into Modular Avatar, it constantly reiterates this sentiment. I sincerely hope that anyone using my creations doesn't have to worry about configurations - they should just immerse themselves in the experience. Hence, I plan to set up a unique showcase space for my work in Vrchat. Even though this exposes me to potential theft risks, I'm willing to take them on for the sake of presenting my work authentically and enhancing the user experience. Sometimes, risks seem trivial when fueled by passion and art.
To me, Vrchat is more than just a community or platform; it's home, a place where I rediscovered myself. The warmth one feels when others appreciate and resonate with their heart and soul's creations is beyond words. Every interaction, every friend made, becomes a treasured memory. That's why I firmly believe in giving back more to this home, crafting heartfelt pieces that bring joy and emotion to every Vrchat friend.
From the bottom of my heart, I'm grateful for every moment in Vrchat. Each creation, each share, signifies my deep connection with this community. I hope, through my efforts, I can continue to sow seeds of joy in this vibrant land and share the joy of growth together.
